Principle 4: Nutrition
“Let food be your medicine and your medicine your food”
Wise statement of Hippocrates (Greek physician living around 400 BC)
YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK, EAT AND DRINK!
That is the most important insight that I can give you. Be aware that food is not just for fun, or to see it as a necessary evil, in other words to take a quick bite in between. Our bodies need healthy food in order to function properly, our body is it
home of our soul, for which we must be kind. Healthy food contains all the necessary enzymes, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, proteins, fatty acids etc. that are needed to build our body. The same applies to what you drink. Too much prosperity food causes the body to become acidic, making it more susceptible to micro-organisms.
A certain micro-organism is neutralized with the antagonist (a body’s own substance). This substance occurs in certain foods (much or to a lesser extent). Each substance (vitamin, mineral, protein, etc.) also has an antagonist in the body. For example iron / copper, calcium / magnesium, selenium / vanadium.
By paying attention to your diet, you can make a constructive contribution to your recovery yourself.
But better still is to prevent complaints / illnesses by taking healthy foods.
Eat as little as possible ready meals and out of packages in connection with the large amount of added fragrance, color and flavor (known under E-numbers). For information about this I can give you the booklet “What’s in your food?” (Corinne Gouget) heartily recommend.
These foods are also prepared in such a way that the enzymes are dead. So you eat dead food and this is only filler and not food that builds your body. Enzymes in live food (fruit, vegetables, meat) ensure the breakdown of this diet in the body.
Healthy food means sufficient variation, so that we get something from all nutrients. A varied diet is also necessary because many vitamins and minerals interact. They can strengthen or inhibit each other’s work in the body.
Meat contains important nutrients such as proteins, minerals (iron, zinc, phosphorus, selenium, magnesium) and vitamins (B and D). But if you want to, you can also extract these substances from other foods with a carefully formulated meal. A diet without meat can also be healthy and nutritious.
FREE RADICALS AND ANTIOXIDANTS
Antioxydants form a group of substances that protect tissues, cells and other important components such as DNA against the destructive power of oxygen and its relatives.
Although oxygen is of vital importance, this gas sometimes turns out to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. In oxygen-consuming reactions, such as the burning of fats and carbohydrates, harmful oxygen-containing by-products are formed that are called free radicals. These molecules contain too few electrons, which they desperately try to swallow up from everything that is available, DNA, important proteins, cholesterol and even cell membranes.
Free radicals and oxidants are also in the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink. Cigarette smoke is packed with free radicals. Sunlight that heats the skin or touches the eyes also forms free radicals.
Anti-oxidants are able to neutralize free radicals. Nowadays, the term anti-oxidant is mostly used for vitamin C, vitamin E etc. In reality, there are probably hundreds of antioxidants, in the form of secondary plant substances, in our diet.
We are almost certain that the whole range of anti-oxidants, minerals, fibers and other substances contained in fruits and vegetables and the essential sugars (glyconutrients) contributes to the prevention of cancer, heart disease, stroke, cataracts and all kinds of other chronic diseases.
Knowing this I advise you to eat A LOT of raw, sun-ripened fruit and vegetables. So the quantity and quality (organic) of your food is decisive.
For good health it is also necessary to drink a lot of water. Our body is a hydro-electric power station. In other words, clean drinking water immediately generates energy in our bodies. Water brings life, because through the way it flows through our body, it generates energy. See the book by F. Batmanghelidj “Water, the best medicine,” You are not sick, you are thirsty “.
Due to emotional blockages in our body, the absorption of nutrients can be disrupted, metabolic problems arise and various allergies occur. In more serious situations, diseases such as bulimia and anorexia may result.
